Lyrics
Verse 1
Be Thou my Vision,
O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me,
save that Thou art
Thou my best thought,
by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping,
Thy presence my light.
VERSE 2
Riches I heed not,
nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance,
now and always;
Thou and Thou only
first in my heart.
High King of heaven,
my Treasure Thou art.
CHORUS
Will You guide me
When I can’t see
Please, Lord, lead me
You’re all that I need.
TAG
Be Thou my Vision,
O Lord of my heart.

Song Story
Sometimes songs have a profound story behind them. Other times, they are the result of simply being open to the inspiration of the Spirit in an honest moment of worship. Such is the story behind Adam Lancaster’s chorus to this well-loved hymn. Lancaster, instrumental director at Thomas Road Baptist Church wrote this chorus as a student when he was serving on the Campus Praise Band at Liberty University. The simplicity of this prayer-chorus fits nicely between the timeless, well-loved verses of this classic, celtic hymn. Thomas Road Baptist Church has been using this song for some time now. It was also featured on Charles Billingsley’s project, “God of the Ages”.
